Description:
The Army doesn't allow me to have a vehicle while I'm stationed here in Korea so I have to walk everywhere or catch a cab. At 0500 in the morning, cabs are scarce, believe me. So, I walk about a kilometer or more to the gym. I love the fact that it's so close to my barracks.
In order for me to become promoted to Sergeant, I have to meet or exceed the phyiscal fitness statndards. 100% in push ups, sit ups, and running = 300 point score which translates to awesome promotion points. Also, my body mass index has to be with in Army standards.
I recently scored a 93% average on the PT test and I met the BMI standard. The next test will be in six months but if I want to get promoted sooner, I will need to train really hard to beat all my personal bests.
No more silly indulgences. No more binge drinking with friends on the weekends. No more fast lunches at the food court. No more dinners at the Officers Club- steak, potatoes and all the fixings. No more sleeping in on the weekends.
I already gave up the sodas, mochas, wicked waffle fries and homemade mac and cheese casseroles. It's time to shift gears and kick this business up in to over drive. I'm going to continue doing 60 minutes of cardio in the morning but I'm also going to push myself to do 300 reps of abs exercises. In the afternoons, when I'm not working late, I'm going to have my gym bag packed and ready to rock. 20 minutes of cardio plus 30 minutes of weight training.
