When I was little, my father told me I couldn't do some of the things I wanted to do... because I am a girl. "Girls don't do that kind of stuff. Only boys can." I've been fighting that conversation my entire life. I refuse to be dependent upon anyone for my high standards and quality of life. Damn it, if you won't get it for me, then move out of the way and I'll get it my damn self. I've been a union carpenter, a financial advisor, a teacher, a soldier and a leader of men and women from around the world. I will never again be poor and hungry. I am never afraid to work but I am learning to have others work for me.
