Michael Vick and the NFL

It seems to me that this case ought to be closed.

He admitted he's quilty, and can no longer serve in the NFL, rehabilitated or not. Athletes are role models for our children, and as such, must follow life's rules. When they break a rule, as in a law in this case, they apologize, lose something - their career - and become a stand-up citizen in something else. That's what role models do. Not like Pete Rose.

I feel that athletes in the professional world should not be given rediculous amounts of money. They need time to really prove themselves as a decent law abiding citizen as well as talented athletes. I don't approve of any animal wild or domestic being tortured or killed for the fun or sport of it. We humans or very selfish and put ourselfs above the law at times. Whether it's Michael Vick, Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods NO ONE is ABOVE THE LAW. Do we kill a infant because it cries to much?? Yes, some people do! Mr. Vick has learned the hard way by losing lots of endorsements and a nice NFL pay check. We all at times are our own worst enemy I know I have been.

I don't think that throwing out the baby with the bath water is the all inclusive answer here. In this country, rediculous amounts of contract dollars are paid to these pro sports figures and the elderly and the poor are left with substandard education and healthcare. Do I condone Michael Vick's actions, of course not, but I do think a reasonably firm punishment should be rendered. Do I think it should cost him his career. Absolutely not. This country excuses some bad boy behavior and hangs others. Parents always have and always will be the role models for our children NOT Sports figures. Of which, many are big overgrown kids, some misguided, instantly becoming millionaires, without positive supervision....and what do you get...???
