In a crazy and somewhat desperate attempt to finally carry through on a personal goal, I am going public.  Will it help?  I don't know, but it's worth a shot.  Of course, I've chosen a humdinger for a starting point, but again, I think it's worth it.  I've tried three times now.  Twice with NaNoWriMo's normal November novel writing drive and again in the spring with a scriptwriting drive they started this year.  None of those efforts got off the ground.  Well, that's not exactly true.  They all got off the ground, but only barely and only to crash resoundingly a short distance down field.

This time is going to be different.  Why?  Because it has to.  Because I'm determined.  Because I know you're watching.  You'll keep me honest, right?  And even if you don't, just knowing there's somebody else out there looking on that helps me to feel accountable.  Even if you don't say anything, I know.  Knowing is enough.

So here's to a novel in a month.  Here's to hard work.  Here's to persistence.  Here's to never giving up.
